Updating data in a linked table

Inside road.mdb, I have a linked SQL table and the table name is student.

I can insert records using query design in MSAccess But I cannot update nor Delete when run delete query below, the error is: could not delete from specified table I have full access to the sql database and I can run the query OK using sql management studio.

Datasheets are grids of data that look like Excel worksheets.

You can change data by working directly in Datasheet view.

If you are familiar with Excel, datasheets should be relatively easy to understand.

You can change data in tables, query result sets, and forms that display datasheets.

The query replaces the form's control source when activated, and I believe it is simply too complex for Access to treat it as updatable.

I have then created a Form in MS Access 2016, added the columns from Table1 to the Form and I can see the data fine.

The problem I have is that the option to Add New Record is greyed out and no matter what I try I cannot add a new record to using the Form.

If I create a standard (not a linked table) in MS Access 2016 and add the columns to the Form rather than the columns from the Linked Table1 the Add New Record icon is then available. Is it possible to use a Form in MS Access 2016, have the data source as a Linked Table to a table in SQL Server 2012 and add new records to it?

This is done on the last step of creating a Linked table, the window title is "Select Unique Record Identifier".

(You can easily check if 'things are OK' afterwards by adding a record to the SQL Server table and accessing it through the MS Access linked table.
